Dental Examination
- Exams are recommended at least 2 times a year.
- At your exam our office might take x-rays (Full mouth or checkup)
- During the examination our dentist will check each tooth and the surrounding tissues for any abnormalities
- If there is any treatment that was diagnose the dentist will explain your treatment plan to you, so a clear understanding is reached before any dental work is started. It is important to us that our patients know what the finish line looks like and what we can do to get there.
Dental Cleaning
- Cleanings are recommended at least 2 time a year
- Professional cleanings are encouraged to prevent or slow the process of gingivitis (gum disease), dental decay, and periodontitis (bone loss).
- Brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing, and drinking plenty of water is important to maintain healthy oral hygiene.
- During your visit we will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your personal oral hygiene and how to take the best care for your teeth.
Periodontal Disease
- Periodontal disease is an infection that occurs in the gums. If kept untreated, it can gradually damage your original teeth. It may even result in other severe oral problems like Gingivitis and periodontists.
- Toxins are released by bacteria that are present in dental plaque. It can disturb your gum tissue and result in redness, swelling and bleeding of the gums. If this issue is left untreated, the gum tissue will become inflamed and sore to the touch or brushing.
- Maintaining a proper dental care routine like daily brushing and flossing can help stop periodontal disease
Laser dentistry
- Our Hygienist utilizes laser technology as a method to reform healthy gums and eliminates disease parts in a virtually pain- free process.
- This procedure also promotes healthy gums to regenerate and fuse to the teeth.
- There is a way less chance of being attacked by gum disease again with laser treatment.
- This procedure can also aid in healing time for cold sores
Deep Teeth Cleaning
- Scaling and root plaining (SRP) is the process of smoothing out the root surfaces of the teeth by removing hard calculus deposits and debris from below the gums. Our hygienist will perform the SRP using special hand instruments, an ultrasonic scaler, or a combination of both.
- One or two visits will be required to control the problem. In milder situations with little or no bone loss can sometimes be completed with your regular cleaning.
- You will leave our office with a plan for daily home care and a maintenance routine.
Arestin
- ARESTIN® (minocycline hydrochloride) is an antibiotic that destroys the bacteria that cause infection. That is inserted into the infected parts of your gums, known as “pockets.”
- Arestin can help Kill bacteria known to cause gum disease, reduce the size and numbers of pockets, reduce bleeding of the gums, and improve the ability of your gums to attach to your teeth
Restorative Dentistry
Dental Crowns
- A dental crown is placed over your tooth if your teeth can become weak or become susceptible to dental problems i.e., decay, discoloration, or tooth cracks with time or due to certain other factors.
- They are also used along with root canal therapy
- As an anchor for a bridge
- In dental implants
- We use Zirconia or Ceramic material for most of our cases.
- The crown procedure takes 2 appointments
- Dentist removes any decay and prepares the tooth for the eventual crown.
- Dentist or Dental Assistant takes a physical or digital impression, which is used as a model to make sure the crown properly fits.
- A temporary crown is made for the patient to wear as the final design and aesthetic details are sent to the lab.
- Dentist cements the crown and checks proper fit and occlusion.
Tooth Colored Fillings
- A composite filling will fix a tooth that is affected by cracks, dental decay, and fractures.
- Composite resin is a material made up of a mixture of different substances, including fine glass and plastic.
- This type of filling provides an alternative to traditional (metal) amalgam fillings.
Bondings/ Abfractions
- Bonding/ Abfractions are frequently used as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings, or to shield a section of the tooth’s root that has become exposed due to gum recession.
- They also enhance the appearance of a discolored tooth, to fix gaps between teeth, make teeth appear longer, and change the contour or color of teeth.
Root Canal
- A root canal is a procedure to replace the infected pulp in the a root canal of a tooth with an inert material.
- The purpose of root canal therapy is to eliminate that pain
- When a tooth undergoes a root canal the tooth is brittle and can break without a crown.
- We plan to do both procedures; root canal and prep the tooth for a crown in one appointment so there is less time that the tooth is vulnerable and susceptible to fracture.
Surgical Implants
- Dr. Anastasia Avina requires a Cone Beam CT scan to analyze bone structure and density to plan out the placement of the implant.
- Once proper bone density has been achieved, the implant is carefully placed and allowed to heal and integrate into the jaw.
- This period usually lasts from 3-4 months as the implant integrates into the bone.
- After the healing period, a custom implant crown or bridge will be attached to the implant.
- Dental implants are comprised of 3 different components.
- Implant
- Custom Abutment
- Crown
TMD/ TMJ Treatment
- When you come in for an exam our dentists will check to see if you have any signs of TMD/ TMJ that would need treatment.
- We believe that education is crucial, so we give a proper explanation of what could be causing the discomfort and what treatment choices are available.
- Treatment for TMD/ TMJ at Radiant Dental Arts
- BOTOX® improves TMJ and jaw-related stress for many individuals when injected into your tender facial muscles. Injecting Botox® into the masseter muscle can help you get rid of TMJ/TMD pain and provide you immediate relief on a temporary basis.
- A personalized mouth guard to keep your teeth from grinding together and inflicting more damage to them.
Dental Emergencies
- Tooth pain is terrible, a fractured tooth late at night…on a Friday…before a 3-day weekend is never fun. Dental emergencies can be prevented by keeping up with your regular appointments in the event of an emergency, here’s what you can do.
- Rinse out with clean water followed by a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution. This will help clean the area and prevent infections.
- Assess the damage. If you’re bleeding excessively and it looks like it’s more than just the tooth, then go to the urgent care for treatment. If the tooth broke off below the gum line, save the remaining tooth in milk or saline solution and see a dentist immediately. If it’s just the tooth structure and it’s a clean break without bleeding, it’s not as urgent, but most people don’t want to walk around with half a tooth.
- Apply a cold compress to minimize swelling and inflammation
- If you have no allergies to ibuprofen or acetaminophen you can take over the counter pain medication to alleviate some discomfort
